Non-profits can receive $10,000 a month for ads from Google

I recently learned that Google provides eligible non-profit 501(c)(3) organizations with $10,000 of in-kind AdWords advertising each month through their Google Ad Grants program. This can be a fantastic way to spread the word about your organization and aid in fund-raising. Text-based ads will be shown in Google search result pages in positions below paying advertisers and all campaigns must be keyword targeted with a maximum cost-per-click (CPC) of $2.00.

Here are Google’s qualification requirements for non-profits in the United States:

  • Organizations must be recognized by the IRS as tax-exempt 501(c)(3) organizations formed for charitable, educational, religious, literary, scientific, or other tax-exempt purposes.
  • Fiscally sponsored organizations are not eligible for Google for Nonprofits.
  • Organizations, such as churches, that are automatically considered tax-exempt under group exemption must still obtain recognition of 501(c)(3) tax exemption from the IRS to qualify for the Google for Nonprofits program.
  • https://www.google.com/grants/eligibility/Organizations must be currently registered with TechSoup

More information about eligibility is available here.

  1. Register your non-profit organization with TechSoup.
